Endpoint-level observability for enterprise AI tool usage. A lightweight on-device agent captures telemetry from AI coding tools, scans for and redacts secrets at capture time, and ships usage, cost and security analytics to a dashboard, so engineering leaders can see how AI tooling is actually being used without collecting the prompts themselves.

The challenge

Engineering organisations are adopting AI coding tools faster than they can account for them. Leaders have no reliable view of which tools are in use, what they cost per team, or whether secrets are leaving the building in prompts. The obvious way to find out, capturing prompts centrally, is exactly what security teams and works councils will not approve.

What we built

We built an on-device agent that captures tool telemetry locally and scans for secrets before anything is transmitted, with prompt storage off by default and enforceable. Analytics land in a Go backend and Next.js dashboard covering usage, cost attribution, and fleet enrollment. The agent is open source under Apache-2.0 so a security team can read every line that runs on an engineer's Mac before approving it, and the platform ships either as Synopt Cloud on EU infrastructure or fully self-hosted with no outbound data flows.

Key features

  • Telemetry capture for Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Cursor
  • Secret detection and redaction on the device, at capture time
  • Prompt-storage-off enforcement for privacy-sensitive orgs
  • Usage analytics and per-team cost attribution dashboards
  • Agent fleet status and enrollment management
  • Open-source agent (Apache-2.0) auditable before install
  • Synopt Cloud hosted on EU infrastructure in Germany
  • Self-hosted deployment with zero outbound data flows

Outcome

In live pilot since July 2026, with the agent at v0.8.3. Shipped and verified against the codebase: capture for Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Cursor; on-device secret detection and redaction; prompt-storage-off enforcement; usage and cost dashboards; and agent fleet status and enrollment. Reported cost is the API-equivalent figure each tool's own telemetry provides, not billing data.
